A true local hero , Mr Lim Bo Seng (27 April 1909 – 29 June 1944) embodied the spirit of the resistance fighters against the Japanese occupiers during WW2. He was betrayed, captured and tortured to death, yet held onto his honour by not betraying his comrades.
Kampong Glam Walking tour
Kampong Glam - Walking--
Alighting at the Bugis mrt and make your way to kampong glam by walking along Victoria Street and arriving at the Sultan Mosque. More than any other place or structure in Kampong Glam, the mosque would be the best representation of its history and heritage. Originally built by Sultan Hussein for his followers in (1824-26 ) as a simple double storied wooden structure with thatched room, it outgrew the original design and was rebuilt in (1924-28). The architect was surprisingly an Irishman Denis Santry of Swan and Maclaren.

Public buses are very comfortable, air-conditioned and very affordable. While the MRT is fast and well connected, it might not get you exactly to the door step of the destination and attractions you are heading for.
As an example, getting to the Singapore Zoo, you take the MRT on the North-South line and get off at Ang Mo Kio station (NS16), take the underpass to the Bus interchange and look for SBS Transit bus No. 138 which will take you to the Zoo in about 30 minutes.
*Check out each of our attractions & sights pages to get travel info to these places.

Taping out ensures that you are only charged for the distance your traveled or the full fare of the longest distance of the bus route will be charged. If paying by cash do have exact change to ensure a smooth boarding.
