Scenic views of the Southern Isles and City
Originally known as Telok Blangah Hill but better known as Mount Faber. Thus renamed when a road was cut up to the top of the hill in 1845 by Captain Charles Edward Faber of the Madras Engineer, to install a flagstaff and to move the signal station from Pulau Belakang Mati or Sentosa Island. The flagstaff was struck by lightning on 1851, and the signalman's bungalow burnt down in 1876. They were both subsequently closed in the 1970s.
At a height of approx 110 meters, it is the 2nd highest point in Singapore after Bukit Timah Hill (164m). It is also a very scenic park, popular with runners, hikers and lovers, with panoramic views of the southern islands and portions of the residential housing estate of Telok Blangah town.
Several top class attractions, restaurants and outlets make it worth a trip up to the top. You will have to jostle for space with a large number of tour buses that make that steep climb up to the summit for that necessary tourist photo shot. There are plenty else to do after that we assure you. Here are some:
Cable Car to Sentosa
Cable Car ride to Sentosa Island from the summit. A jaw dropping experience and a firm favourite of tourist and locals alike. (See Sentosa Island)
The reverse is true, take the Cable Car over to Mount Faber from Sentosa.
See panoramic views of the city and southern islands and on clear day see Batam. Busy waterways and the petro chemical refineries of Jurong Island.
A few superb Restaurants, Lounge, Bars and cafe.
Connected to Henderson waves walk Telok Blangah Hills, Hort Park and Kent Ridge Park.
Murals - Faber Point (highest point) for a sweeping historical storyboard of the development of Singapore.
*Quite a rigorous walk up to the summit and do be prepared for the climb. Invigorating in the early morning and more forgiving weather wise in the evening.
Take the Cable Car to Sentosa Island ( vice versa from Sentosa to Mount Faber Park).
Hike to Henderson Waves (Southern Ridges), Telok Blangah Hill Park, Hort Park, Kent Ridge. (2-3 hours).
Go do some shopping at Vivo City Mall.
